Getting around Procida
The island is small but hilly, with narrow roads and beaches at the bottom of long stairways. Here is how long it takes from the port to each place, by every means, and where you leave the vehicle for the last stretch on foot.

By e-bike: climbs without the effort
With pedal assist, the climbs up to Terra Murata and the centre of the island come without arriving soaked, and a bike fits through the narrow lanes. From the port it is about 10 minutes to Corricella, 15 to Terra Murata, 15 to Chiaia, 10 to Pozzo Vecchio, 15 to Ciraccio, 20 to Chiaiolella and 20 to the Vivara bridge.

By electric scooter: the fastest
An electric scooter cuts the times above all towards the west: about 15 minutes to Chiaiolella and Vivara, 10 to everywhere else. In 2026, from 30 March to 15 October, non-residents may not bring their own car or motorbike onto the island: you rent on the spot.

EAV buses leave from Marina Grande port. Line L1 goes to Chiaiolella, line C2 climbs to Terra Murata; other lines serve the west side. Times can shift because buses from the port wait for ferries and hydrofoils to arrive. Timetables, routes and tickets change with the season: check them on the EAV website.

On foot: where the stairs are
Three places can only be reached on foot, whatever you ride: at Corricella you walk down from the upper village, Chiaia beach has 182 steps, and at Pozzo Vecchio you walk down the stairs from the cemetery. Coming back, the stairs are uphill. Walking everything, it takes about 40 minutes from the port to Chiaiolella: in one day you see little.
Where to leave your vehicle
For each place we have marked on the map where the road ends and the car parks shown on OpenStreetMap: Terra Murata and the upper part of Corricella, the cemetery for Pozzo Vecchio, Marina di Chiaiolella for the beach and for the Vivara bridge, which you cross on foot. RentEMZ e-bikes come with a lock.
And the suitcase?
A suitcase gets you nowhere here: stairs, climbs and narrow lanes. Step off the ferry, leave it with us at Via Roma 120, a few steps from the pier, and collect it before you leave. Storage free when you rent; without a rental €5 per bag per day.

Practical tips
- Head up to Terra Murata early: the climb is nicer before the heat.
- At Corricella, Chiaia and Pozzo Vecchio the vehicle stays at the top: count the stairs on the way back too.
- Roads are narrow and full of bends: ride slowly, especially downhill.
- Vehicles and luggage go back to the port by 7pm.

RentEMZ is at Via Roma 120, a short walk from the Marina Grande landing. Step off the ferry, leave your bags and set off by e-bike or electric scooter: pick them up by 7pm and you are already at the pier.
